CIN verification confirms that the 21-character Company Identification Number on an invoice, contract or pitch deck is real and belongs to the company that claims it. The CIN is issued by MCA to every registered company, and it encodes the listing status, industry, state of incorporation, year and class - so a quick read already tells you a lot before you even open the profile.

The reason to verify is simple: a CIN that does not match the legal name, or that points to a struck-off company, is one of the most common signs of a fake or stale invoice. Procurement and finance teams check the CIN before releasing payment to a new supplier, and lenders check it before they begin underwriting.

Enter a CIN or company name above and Infyner resolves it against the live register, showing the legal name, status and registered office so you can confirm the match in seconds.

How to use it

  1. Enter the CIN - Paste the 21-character CIN, or type the company name if you only have that.
  2. Confirm the match - Check that the legal name and registered office match what is on your invoice or contract.
  3. Check the status - Make sure the company is Active and filing, not struck off or dormant.

Step-by-step walkthrough

Read the CIN structure

The first letter (L or U) is listing status, the next five digits are the industry code, then two letters for the state, four digits for the year, three letters for the company class and six digits for the ROC sequence. If any of these contradict what the company tells you, dig deeper.

Match the legal name

The name MCA holds is the legal name. "Infyner Business Intelligence Pvt Ltd" on the register but "Infyner Solutions" on the invoice is worth a question.

Confirm it is active

A valid CIN on a struck-off company is still a problem. Always read the status field alongside the CIN.

Frequently asked questions

How do I verify a CIN online?

Paste the CIN into the search above. Infyner returns the company name, status and registered office for any valid CIN so you can confirm it is genuine.

What is a CIN?

CIN is the 21-character Company Identification Number that MCA assigns to every registered company in India. Each segment carries meaning about the company.

Is CIN verification free?

Searching and confirming a CIN against the register is free. Full company reports use credits.

What does it mean if the CIN does not match the name?

It is a red flag. A mismatch between the CIN and the legal company name often signals a wrong, outdated or forged invoice - verify before you pay.

Can a CIN change?

Yes, in three cases: a move to another state, a change in listing status, or a change of company class. MCA keeps the old CIN in its history.

Is CIN the same as GSTIN or PAN?

No. CIN identifies the company on the MCA register, GSTIN is its GST registration, and PAN is its tax identity. A company has all three.

How do I verify an LLP instead of a company?

LLPs use a 7-character LLPIN, not a CIN. Use the LLPIN verification page for partnerships.

Do I need an account?

No. CIN verification works without sign-up. Credits are only needed for full reports.
